Owner notifications
Owner notifications email you — the property owner — rather than the guest. Stayant ships three of them out of the box, all managed from Settings → Scheduled messages:
- New booking received — sent the moment a booking is created.
- Booking paid — sent when a payment lands: a guest paying online by card (Stripe) or PayPal, an automatic balance charge, or a bank transfer you mark as received. Payments you record by hand (Cash, Cheque, Other) don't trigger it.
- Balance overdue — sent while a confirmed booking has an outstanding balance past its due date. Chasing stops once the check-in date arrives.
They appear on the same page as your guest-facing scheduled messages, in their own group headed Messages to you, so you can tell them apart at a glance.
Set your notification email
At the top of Settings → Scheduled messages, the Owner notifications card has a Notification email field. This is where all three owner notifications are sent. Stayant also uses it to alert you to new guest messages, and for website enquiries when your website has no contact email of its own.
- Leave it blank and owner emails are skipped — no notification email configured means no owner notifications go out, for any of the three triggers. This is the default for every tenant until you opt in.
- Enter an address and click Save to start receiving notifications.
Choose how often overdue-balance emails repeat
The Balance overdue notification is different from the other two: instead of firing once, it can repeat for as long as a booking's balance stays overdue. The Balance overdue emails selector in the same card controls this:
- Off — never sent, even if the template itself is enabled. This is the default.
- Once per overdue balance — you're emailed a single time when a booking's balance first becomes overdue.
- Daily while overdue — you're emailed once a day for as long as the balance remains outstanding.
Click Save to apply your choice.
Turn individual notifications on or off
Each of the three templates under Messages to you, below the card, is a normal system default template — use its Disable / Enable button the same way you would for any other default (see Automated & scheduled messages). For example, disable New booking received if you only want payment and overdue alerts.
Disabling a notification here is independent of the Notification email and Balance overdue emails settings above — all three need to line up for a given notification to actually send: the template must be enabled, and (for Balance overdue) the frequency must not be Off, and a notification email must be set.
Tips
- If you stop receiving owner notifications, check the Notification email field first — a blank address is the most common reason.
- Owner notifications never go to guests — they use the address you set in this card, not any guest's email.
- Unlike guest-facing defaults, which you can Customise, owner notifications have no Customise button — their wording is fixed. You can only enable or disable them.
