Override price & cost on a rate plan

Every room has a Standard rate plan that acts as the immutable pricing baseline. When you add extra plans (for example a Non-refundable or Early-bird plan) you can choose whether each plan inherits the Standard rate or applies its own adjustment — independently for the selling price guests pay and the internal cost used in profit reporting.

The Standard plan is the baseline

The Standard plan cannot have a price or cost override. Its nightly rate comes from the daily rate grid and your room defaults — that is always the reference price that other plans adjust from. You can rename the Standard plan, but you cannot add an override to it.

Selling price modes

For any non-Standard rate plan, open the Rate plans list on the room card and edit the plan (the same fields also appear when you add a plan). Under Pricing (vs Standard), the Selling price dropdown offers three modes; for % of Standard or Fixed amount, enter the value in the field beside it (% (+/-) or Amount / night):

Mode What it does
Same as Standard No adjustment is applied — but the plan does not copy the Standard plan's prices. It only has the prices you set for this plan itself (its own sub-row in the daily rate grid, or seasonal rules assigned to this plan). Nights you haven't priced for it are unpriced and can't be booked on this plan.
% of Standard The nightly rate is the Standard rate plus or minus a percentage you enter. Enter a positive value to charge more, a negative value to charge less.
Fixed amount The plan always charges a fixed nightly rate you specify, regardless of the Standard rate.

Worked example — Standard rate £100/night

  • +10% of Standard → £110/night
  • −15% of Standard → £85/night
  • Fixed £75 → £75/night regardless of the Standard rate

Gotcha: If you want a plan that always charges exactly the Standard rate, choose % of Standard with 0 rather than Same as Standard — a Same as Standard plan starts with no prices of its own.

Internal cost modes

The Internal cost section offers the same three modes — Same as Standard, % of Standard, and Fixed amount — but cost is entirely separate from the selling price:

  • Never shown to guests. Cost does not affect what guests are quoted on your website or on any booking channel.
  • Used for profit reporting only. The Profit and loss tab of the Reports page uses the plan's effective nightly cost to calculate accommodation cost and profit margin.

You can therefore price a plan cheaply for guests while correctly tracking a higher internal cost (or vice versa) without the two figures interfering with each other.

See Nightly rate vs cost price for more on the rate/cost split.

Channel markups stack on top

If you have channel markups configured (per-OTA adjustments that raise the price sent to a specific booking channel), those markups are applied on top of the plan's selling-price adjustment. For example, a plan set to +10% of Standard with a 5% OTA markup would result in the channel receiving Standard × 1.10 × 1.05.

See Rate plans for how to set up channel markups per plan.

How seasonal rules and daily rates interact with the plan's price

The Fixed or Percentage adjustment on a rate plan is the base — it sets what the plan earns when no more-specific pricing applies. Pricing set for that plan can override it per-night. Each plan is priced on its own: a daily rate, seasonal rule or weekday/weekend default set on the Standard plan does not override another plan.

Source (all for this plan) Wins when…
Daily rate (typed into this plan's sub-row in the pricing grid for a specific night) Always — highest precedence.
Seasonal pricing rule assigned to this plan The night falls within the rule's date range and no explicit daily rate overrides it.
The plan's own weekday/weekend default No daily rate and no active seasonal rule cover this night. (The Wd / We defaults you edit in the grid belong to the room's Standard plan.)
Plan's Fixed or Percentage adjustment None of the above apply; the adjustment is the final fallback base.

For a % of Standard plan, the base is the Standard plan's price for that night — including the Standard plan's own daily rates, seasonal rules and defaults — with your percentage applied. If the Standard plan has no price for a night, the room's Default nightly rate is used with the percentage applied.

Worked example: A Non-refundable plan is set to Fixed £120/night. A seasonal rule named Summer 2026, assigned to the Non-refundable plan, sets £150 for 1 Jul – 31 Aug. A booking from 25 Jun to 5 Jul will price the Jun nights at £120 (plan base) and the Jul nights at £150 (seasonal rule override), not a flat £120 for all nights. If the Summer 2026 rule were assigned to the Standard plan instead, it would not affect this Fixed plan at all.

This means the Fixed or Percentage value you enter on the plan governs non-peak, non-override nights. Use seasonal pricing rules (choosing this plan in the rule's Rate plan picker) or this plan's row in the daily rate grid to vary the price for specific dates within that plan.

See Seasonal & weekend pricing for how to set up rules, and The pricing calendar for the daily rate grid.

Summary

  • The Standard plan is the pricing baseline and cannot be overridden.
  • Non-Standard plans can set Selling price to Same as Standard, % of Standard, or Fixed amount. Same as Standard doesn't copy the Standard plan's prices — price the plan itself, or use % of Standard at 0%.
  • Non-Standard plans can set Internal cost independently using the same three modes.
  • Cost is internal-only — it affects profit reporting, never guest-facing prices or channel rates.
  • Channel markups (per-OTA) apply on top of the plan's selling-price adjustment.
  • A plan's Fixed/Percentage adjustment is the fallback base; daily rates, seasonal rules and defaults set on that same plan override it per-night (most-specific wins).
